Home Loans

Home loans are available for both owner occupied purchase, and refinance loans.

The minimum amount required for a deposit is 3%, however the majority of lenders request a minimum of 5% deposit.

For a borrower looking to pay his/her home loan off more quickly, both 100% offset accounts and lines of credit are available with a deposit of only 5% required.

Fixed rates from 1-10 years are available. Redraw and extra payment facilities are available on most products.

Investment Loans

Traditionally you require a 10% deposit for an investment loan, however we have some lenders who only require a 5% deposit for an investment purchase.

Other facilities available to our clients are:

Interest only up to 10 years
100% borrowing
Pre paid interest in advance
Offset accounts
30 year terms

Business/Commercial Loans

Business loans are available at Home Loan rates, provided residential security is used.

Commercial Loans for the purchase/refinance of shops, offices and industrial sheds are available with a 25% deposit or 100% finance with other security used.

Land Loans

Loans for the purchase or refinance of vacant land are available with a deposit of 10%.

Credit Problem Loans

Applicants who may have a problem with their credit rating eg: defaults, bankruptcy, arrears on loans, and slow payers can also benefit by applying for a loan through A to Z Mortgages. We have a number of lenders who can assist anyone in this position.

First Home Owners Grant

Stefan Boni

Stefan Boni from Elite Sunshine Coast got his Australian Citizenship in February. He had an ice-cream business in Scotland, and first came to Australia on holiday. Stefan is currently the President of the Caboolture Chamber of Commerce; but has been a strong supporter of the BRC for the past 8 years. With his wife of 28 years, and 2 sons, Stefan is a formidable foe for termites and scungey carpets.

Please attend the breakfasts We only had 16 club members show up this morning, but we have 40 members? 12 provided apologies. The Club asks you to attend regularly. If you don't show up – how can you get to know other club members so they can refer you? The Committee does understand that business events / personal situation / clients can mean that you cannot attend. Is it time management?

Angie Roberts on 0411 232 126 has been selling Neways for some years on the Sunshine Coast. Her new website is coming soon. Neways is a product line that focuses on reduced chemicals to avoid harming people and the environment. A number of Club Members use various products and buy at wholesale rates through the Club – last year contributing over $535. Rob Sharkey

Rob Sharkey from Prints Happening on 0408 500 261 does great work as a printer. Out of printing hours, Rob loves music and photography. He hates public speaking, but loves a crowd, whether at the Blues Festival at Byron, or helping a friend set up the Ocean Street Happening. (Lance Milne did the electrical). He has over 300 people organised with a Single Minded Club. A quiet organiser!

Cancer Fund Raising

Swan Boat Hire

Next week, Swan Boat Hire, Bradman Ave, near Chambers Island A photo from last years event. Come along, breakfast as bbq egg / bacon roll. Tea, coffee, 7am to 8:30. We have 24 spaces on board. Make sure you reserve your place. Come and spend the time socialising. Personal sales (i.e. the person who is recommending a product or service) is still the most effective marketing you can do. Referral marketing is really effective because people listen to their friends, respect their advice, and act on it. It's an "easy sell" when someone walks into your store and says, "My friend bought from here and she was really happy. I'd like the same thing."

Sales Training

Don't miss this event!. May 10th. As Rod Hurst remarked today, it is not good enough to say you have "great service". You need to be able to say your "Point of Differentiation". Why use Jeremy Hunters Superior Garages and Sheds when there are dozens of competitors. Why – because Jeremy can do the engineering alteration that is unique: "just right for you". Roll up your sleeves, get some effective business planning done with Gordon Cramer.

Edwin De Bruyns

Edwin De Bruyns from Coast Tech TV on the Sunshine Coast on 0422 430 067 started life in South Africa in Capetown. Forced to relocate off the Cape to make way for developers, Edwin was one of 10 children. He came to Australia in 2001, and has 3 university age children, one just graduating from the University of the Sunshine Coast. Edwin started his TV repair and antenna business in 2005, and a good referral for him is anyone with a new TV.

Jenny McGrath from Slade Property on 0422 577 345 has been investing in property for 30 years. Jenny was previously with BluAnt Rentals. (BluAnt is still in business in Rockhampton and continue to provide a rental agency service.). Jenny has been personally investing in rental properties for 30 years. When you buy an investment property, you have to buy with your head, not your heart. What will it rent for? How much maintenance will I need to do? Are the tenants the sort that look after the property. If you have a rental, but want someone who knows about how to manage them, call Jenny.

Rex Schaller

Rex Schaller from Polish Up on 5477 0711 grew up in colonial Zimbabwe on 4,000 ha and 1400 cattle, and the civil war with bombs, weapons and warfare. The family lost the lot, and he went into business in UK in purchasing and quantity surveying; and then his own cleaning business before migrating to Australia. He has had his internet based business selling polishing materials world wide. He goes to show that you can run global businesses and still take time to play golf during the week.

There is not a business that does not want more sales, and the committee has organised 3 or 4 events. Gordon Cramer will present this one. The session will be 2 hours in duration and will address the issues of defining the precise market within which each business operates. Topics covered include:

The Sustainable Competitive Advantage
Compelling Reasons to Buy
The Value Proposition
The Positioning Statement

The outcome of this workshop for attendees will be the ability to accurately describe individual markets, to identify and apply unique selling propositions and sustainable advantages as well as create a written Value Proposition and Positioning Statement.
If you went and paid for this course, you could pay up to $500, but this one is $50 including breakfast. Bring 1 other business person.

Blood Donations

Every one in 3 Australians may wind up in their lifetime requiring blood or blood products. Many Australians cannot donate due to past illness, dodgy veins, living in UK with Mad Cow disease, and only 1 in 30 actually donate. Make yourself one of the 30. Weekly Meeting Minutes

Mark Jamieson, mayoral candidate, presented his run for mayor. Refer a fellow club member this week. Tell the others who you refered next Thursday.

Speaker, Mark Jamieson

Mark Jamieson is running for mayor along with 7 other candidtes: Club members heard Mark talk about the issues of the Sunshine Coast and there were a number of questions in followup. Mark was the CEO for APN Newspapers and how is an investor in the Duporth Tavern and the Key Guy Real Estate franchises. He says his major challenge would be a cultural change from "No" to "how can we help" right from the dog catcher to the Council. It was pointed out that the Sunshine Coast, the 10th largest city, gets $1 from State and Federal Goverments in comparison with the Gold Coast that gets $10. Those elections are April 28th.

Referrals

With only 20 attendes, referrals were down, with only 5 external and 28 internal. For your next car service, electrical work, plumbing work, insurance advice, TV aerial, or trip away, use of the Club members' services. You won't be disappointed.

Apologies

Whether it was the weather, or interstate business calling, or not politically interested we had a record 17 apologies. Remember, we have a waiting list. If you can't show up, let us know, and if you don't show for 4 weeks, the committee has an obligation to see if someone on the waiting list can come along instead.

Too Busy?

Too busy to come along? The Club is a place for referrals. Our "Leads" Club was set up 12 years ago. Wayne Knetter from 4CP Promotions on 0414 483 678 said he got some advice when he left paid employment at various marketing companies and went into the bold world of self employment.
Wayne Says "If you want business, go to where likely minded business people meet."

Dan takes people to Phoenix and Las Vegas for purchase of positively geared US houses ($80,000 purchase returning $800 per month). Dan is also chair of a referrals group that meets was Warana.

Dave Schwab – Network Car Rentals

Dave Schwabe and Michelle Schwabe bought Network Car Rentals 8 months ago. (Michelle also has her own business – One Perfect Day – wedding planning.) Interesting background! Born in Melbourne and joined the Navy. Six year stint, serving on the "Vampire". They moved to NZ and lived at Te Puke / Tauranga. Tried his hand as "the lineman for the county" for 6 years, then 13 years in the NZ Police, the last 2 years in the Childrens Protection Unit. He was in a finance company for 7 years as the sales manager. (Michelle was in marketing.) They moved to the Sunshine Coast and bought Black Swan Security which they then sold to Verifact.
They have had the car rental business for 6 months. They have 30 vehicles. Call them at 07 5443 4318.

Referrals

The Chair, Zane Wood from Woods Plumbing on 0401 533 706 asked the 23 present to speak as if they were a customer that gave them a good testimonial. Some excellent simple ones. These are valuable to have on your website, providing validity and confirmation.
We had 23 internals, and 8 externals. Referrals is a numbers game. You provide referrals to others, you will get more yourself.

Apologies

The Club has a rule asking you attend regularly. If you miss more than 4 in a row, the committee will favourably look on requests for joining from others and we have a waiting list. If you can't attend, please text back to let the secretary know. Anna Searle from Inspired Leadership is out of town on a client contract for another 2 weeks, Leon Morse from Sunshine Coast and Tyre was short staffed, Tony Jannides from AccountsPro was in Brisbane, and Tony Wurth IT had a builder turn up early. Last week – Kim Edwards. Next week Mark Jamieson. The mayoral race is on with 7 candidates. Mark has been invited by Paul Brennan to come and speak to us. The Sunshine Coast Regional Council is in for some changes with Bob Abbot standing down. The LNP have a policy of re-assessment of council amalgamation; and the Noose separatists are planning already. Is the Coast hard to do business in or with? Who do you vote for.

Breaking New Ground

The program of special speakers for 2012 will be a series of 4 talks on sales – Breaking New Ground. Why sales? Because in small business everything is about sales. No sales, no business. The Club has applied to the Sunshine Coast Council for a business grant to fund part of this; but we will run the program anyway (but less formally). The 4 areas we think will provide most value to Club members are:

What business are you in?
Selling techniques
The Sales Manual (your formal sales process)
Reaching outside (your existing terrritory).

These 2 hour workshops have a lot in them. We looked at "inspirational" speakers and decided these 4 sessions with a one hour individual followup was good value.

Kim Edwards, mayoral candidate for the upcoming local body elections on April 28th gave a talk and answered lots of questions. You can go to her website to read more. The other candidates include Cr Debbie Blumel, Mark Jamieson, Warren Blee, Michael Bloyce, John Edds, Matthew Ryan-Sykes, Brett Winklerand and a candidate has already dropped out (Greg Fahey).

Dave and Michelle Schwabe from Network Car Hire bought the business last year. This is not the normal uniform for fleet owners! Michelle also has a wedding planning business – One Perfect Day. Come and hear how you can operate a good car hire business even with multi-nationals and fierce competition from other independent operators.
Neil Dickinson was due to speak last week but politics ruled. He will speak this week instead.

Christensen’s Music & Learning are at the forefront of music education and live music entertainment on the Sunshine Coast. Christensen’s offer a wide range of musical instrument classes and tuition catering for children and adults of all ages, including our popular ‘Discovering Musical Instruments’ classes for children 2 to 7 years.

The directors are Rod & Keryn Christensen who have a background in music education that spans over 30 years. Rod is a skilled multi-instrumentalist and music teacher who has taught extensively through their privately owned teaching schools and also for Education Queensland. Keryn is also a musician and works with Rod on the production of student learning material, lesson scheduling, bookings and payments. Both Rod and Keryn are blue card holders for working with children.

We Teach These Instruments :

Guitar, Bass Guitar, Keyboard/Piano, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, Violin, Drums. All lessons are conducted in either small group classes or in individual lessons – not large group classes !

Instrumental Rental

Christensen’s can rent you an instrument to get you started at very reasonable rates. Please enquire for details.

Video Recording

Paul Alister from Alister Multimedia will be ready and willing at this week and following week for you to do your elevator speech in front of his camera. Due to sound issues, Paul wants to have you with a mic on your lapel. Bring your written elevator speech. Get it onto the camera. Practice in front of the mirror to get it confident and natural.

Local election fever is here! Rob Sharkey has invited Kim Edwards to come and talk with us this week. Kim is running as a candidate for Mayor of the Sunshine Coast in the election which will take place on 28 April 2012. Come along to hear what she has to say.

Social Event Postponed

The evening event planned for Saturday was postponed, and as it turned out, it would have been washed out. It will be rescheduled for later in March. It was originally going to be the Christmas Event – it might now be Christmas in autumn. All past members will be invited as well.

Business of the Week

Eddie Peell from Fridge on Today presented on 23rd Feb. Eddie provides a service for airconditioner repairs, installs and refrigeration. Eddie spoke on his personal journey with share market trading as an adjunct to his day business.

Leon Morse from Sunshine Coast Tyre Centre on Wises Rd has been providing mechanical and tyre services for 40 years – but he provided an amusing account of his teenage rock and roll escapades.

Referrals

At the heart of the Business Referrals Club is referrals. Last week there were over 20 referrals. With each referral worth hundreds of dollars, belonging to a referrals group makes good business sense. Rod Christensen from Christensen Music is our latest Club Member. Rod and Keryns business is music tuition, as well as providing duo and band entertainment at weddings and other occassions. Unfortunately, Kellie Angelique had to step down as VP due to family committments on Thursdays, but the Committee is gladly accepting of Waynes offer to be VP. The VP is the "cruisie" job for membership, visitors, and encouragement of referrals. Wayne Knetter of 4CP Marketing on 5442 2341 is seen in the photo above asking Eddie Peel if share market returns are real. Wayne has been valuable to the club over a number of years, and has come up with great referral ideas and I am sure all of you along with Grant, Lee and I thank him for volunteering! If you need short print runs of marketing items, stand up banners, stickers, key tags then Wayne has a great set up and very cost effective promotional items.

Paul will be there on the 1st and for the next couple of weeks so everyone can deliver their 20 seconds. 30 words. That's all.

Zane Wood says that diving back into plumbing six months ago; a trade he left to enter a number of other businesses; is a refreshing change. He services the local area with prompt and courteous service. An avid enduro motorcyclist Zane and his family moved to Australia via New Zealand from South Africa.
If you have mould in your house or investment property, it will be worth to check that drainage is up to scratch before you then to use the services of Greg Paynter from Mould Busters. Poor drainage, leaking gutters and blocked drainage are usually the primary cause of savage mould attack.

Stefan Boni, the icecream man from Scotland has the Elite Sunshine Coast franchise and provides termite, pest inspection and carpet cleaning services across the Sunshine Coast. As Stefan says, houses are nice to munch on. Clean, dry, and unless the builder has used a physical barrier, and then not broken it, just loves exploring and making a meal out of the timber. With carpet cleaning services as well – fixing flooded carpets from washing machine hoses or other less savoury water spillages is all part of the business. We wish Stefan all the best on Australia Day – the day of accepting citizenship. Not that will change the accent.

AGM

The committee stood down, volunteered, and then were re-elected. Grant Keating as President, Lee Priem Treasurer, Kellie Angelique Vice President, and Hugh Butler, Secretary. A request for a volunteer to fill the position of VP Referrals was tabled, and Leon Morse and Tony Wurth have offered their time.
A vote of thanks was given to the committee. A vote of thanks to Leon Morse who diligently provides a raffle at the end of every meeting was also given.

Where would you like to be on New Years Eve. Tony Jannides from Accounts Pro asked members where would they like to be on New Years Eve? Then he reckoned they should be in your personal goals, and start making those plans now.

Who is Jeremy?

Jeremy Hunter from Superior Garages at Warana provides custom built sheds. Speciallising in larger sheds, Jeremys business is from Gypmie North to the Gold Coast. Jeremy was born in 1950 in Vic, and as a lad loved surfing the piers at Altona with his 10 foot planks. A teacher provide him with focus and encouragement. He worked as a young engineer at Mt Isa and moved to the Coast in 1975. Jeremy has worked with youth groups and been very active in church groups; not without personal crises over the years.

Referrals

Referrals are an integral part of the Club. Each month there are about 80 internal and 30 external referrals by club members to one another. Thats the best gift you can get one of your club members this Christmas. Recommend them to friends, family and your customers. It might be a small job. It might be a large value referral. Every one is someone's trust in you to do right by the customer.

No lawyer jokes this morning. Deadly serious stuff. Paul Brennan from Brennans Solicitors on 07 5438 8199 provides legal services, conveyancing, IP protection law on the Sunshine Coast. Paul spoke of his childhood. His mother died suddenly when he was 10, and his father, an ex-Spitfire pilot turned policeman, died a year later. Paul was brought up by family, and from his personal experience the lack of a will creates many problems. Paul says you cannot plan for everything. Paul spoke of Marilyn Munroe, married once to Arthur Miller of "Death of a Salesman" play repute. When Marilyn committed suicide by pills, she left her wealth ($90,000 which was a lot back then) to various. She left her cast-off clothes to a friend. The "friend" sold them at auction last year for $13million. Them's the breaks.

Get your partner to have a will done!

Seriously, it is your partners / spouses will which is as important next to your own will.
Question: Advanced Health Directive – are they necessary? For some these are important but are complicated. Make sure you have your will done first! And your partners second!

Leon has been in the tyre business for 41 years. His birthday is in a couple of weeks. He reckons it must be getting close to moving away from tyres. This year, Leon won the Queensland Dunlop Dealer of the Year from 49 stores in QLD, and was in the top 4 stores nation wide (152 stores).

Just because next week is committee time does not mean you put in an apology! Grant, Kellie, Lee and Hugh have all offered to "stand again". We would love it for another club member to offer to join as Second Vice President.

Jennifer McGrath from BluAnt Rentals can look after all your investment property rentals. Bluant focuses on rentals only. Jennifer joined a couple of weeks ago.
Dave Schwab from Network Car and Truck rentals on 04877 790 044 will be working this Christmas hiring out cars and trucks for rental cars on the Sunshine Coast. If you have friends or family coming to visit, get one of Daves cars and send them off exploring.

Peter Thompson from Insurance Advisernet on 0409 269 127 provides all business and life insurance needs for businesses on the Sunshine Coast. Peter decided rather than talk about insurance; which is about exciting as paint drying, that he would talk about the extra mile (or km) you have to go to keep customers. The internet allows searching for the best deal very easy.
Suncorp says the Australian insurance market has only limited capacity to withstand further premium increases, following the string of natural disasters that has triggered rises in car, home and business insurance in the past two years. The insurer, which sells through brands such as AAMI and GIO, has led the market in increasing premiums – in some cases lifting rates as much as 20 per cent – blaming a run-up in the reinsurance charges it faces. Suncorp last year paid out nearly $4 billion in claims for natural disasters, ranging from Queensland's floods to the Christchurch earthquake, making this its most costly year for natural disasters in more than four decades.
Peters message was simple and direct. If you want to keep your customers, focus again on the important service levels. Return calls. Be proactive. Be available.

Previously, Dave and Michelle owned a security company and sold that to a national security business, where Dave was General Manager for 3 years. They have owned the car rental business for 4 short months. Call them if you have some visitors to the Coast who need the right car at the right price.

Alister Multimedia: Do not call Paul Alister. Paul took some video at the Mick O'Hagan meeting which we will use to promote the club. Next year, we will have a speaker who helps us create an elevator speech. Then Paul will video club members saying their speech to use the videos for their websites and our BRC. You have been warned! Don't be a galah.

Peter Thompson – Insurance AdvisorNet. Insurance is part of every business's expense, and for some their worst nightmare when the fine print catches up. Come and hear some practical advice on how you can beat the insurance blues next week.
Wonder who Steve Ledger really is. (Thanks to Gez from Playfitness there is now less of Steve than 3 months ago – at least 3 belt buckle stops.) Lee Priem from Bank of Queensland Currimundi will be the chair with a 3month term deposite at over 5%. Speak to hin now to get that rate.

Christmas Party

We have 9 apologies already for the Christmas Party which makes Christmas less festive. The committee met after the meeting this morning, and it was suggested that instead of having a Xmas party now, why not have a Welcome Back party in early February. We would have a last meeting at 6pm for drinks and nibbles on December, Thursday 8th, and have a new year, new business get together on February 4th. Is this a better suggestion?

GK Painters

Greg Wilcomes from GK Painters recently attended training course from GreenPainters and has become an accredited green painter. There is a new code of practice for the environment from 1/11/11 with 2 years for painters to transition. No more brush and roller washdowns into the stormwater or into the backyard. Over the next few years there is a mandated reduction of VOC's. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are organic chemicals that have a high vapor pressure at ordinary, room-temperature conditions. Their high vapor pressure results from a low boiling point, which causes large numbers of molecules to evaporate or sublimate from the liquid or solid form of the compound and enter the surrounding air. An example is formaldehyde, with a boiling point of –19 °C (–2 °F), slowly exiting paint and getting into the air. With airtight houses, VOC's are arguably the next asbestos. Some say they are as insidious and part of the cause of leading Australian asthma. So next time you speak with Greg, call him Shrek. Drop his card off at a neighbours this week.

Rod Hurst from The Unfair Adantage who provides business coaching to small and medium size businesses on the Sunshine Coast emphasised that goals have to be "SMART"

S=Stated. Written down.
M=Measureable. How much. Put a number on it.
A=Achievable. Can you achieve the number.
R=Realistic. Is this real, or a pipe dream
T=Time. Make a time, a date to achieve.

Hugh Butler from The Wizard Trader focused on personal goals; as the important thing to get clarified before you set your business goals. Your personal goals are "why" you are in business, the business goals are the "How". Hugh provided personal goal worksheets that can be downloaded on this link.
A little help – all goals should be balanced by the 4 "Ls"

Life: they work their hobby. Think personal fitness trainers
Love: relationships. Think counsellors.
Learn: some just love to learn new things. Think engineers
Legacy; think volunteers and community contributors

Is your Business on the Web.

In the current marketing environment, having a web presence is critical.

Consider this: According to a recent Kantar Media Online Shopper Intelligence Study, 83 percent of consumers shop online at least weekly. . It focuses on creating a website that is both effective and easy to navigate, becoming a part of the online community, and ensuring consistency across the various platforms that work to create a digital presence.
The need for a website. More than 80 percent of small businesses with an online presence say their websites are essential to their companies’ success. A website is a crucial way to provide a full picture of who you are, how long you’ve been in business, and what you specialize in.
"Micro" and "macro" conversation. A micro conversion is a step that moves a visitor closer to the ultimate goal—such as a button that says "Click for a Chance to Win a Free Consultation." A full conversion is when a visitor takes the desired action you seek, such as subscribing to a newsletter.
Keeping it local. One of the biggest mistakes small businesses make is to think that they don’t need a web presence because they serve a local clientele. A recent survey from BIA/Kelsey and Constat found that 97 percent of consumers search online for nearby businesses.

Business of the Week

Lance Milne Electrical does new electrical and electrical repairs on the Sunshine Coast. Lance was trained out with BHP on industrial electrics, worked on his OE at Selfridges in London and then returned for 10 years in the mines. Moving to the Sunshine Coast in 2003 to be closer with his children, Lance has a growing electrical repair business servicing industrial plants and also the home and rental property market. Much of that revolves around safety switches, power points. Additionally he works with turnkey industrial systems. Explaining electrical tariffs.

Tariff 11. Normal charges, 22c per kilowatt hour
Tariff 33 13.6c kWhr, 18 hours per day minimum, generally off at 4:30pm, on at 10:30 at night
Tariff 31. 9c kWHr Minimum of 8hours per day and generally on between 11am and 7am.

Tariff 33 and 31 do have additional fixed metering costs of $7 per month, and do require equipment to be hard wired in.

Graham McIntrye

Graham McIntrye from Compass Financial Solutions was not always a financial planner. Growing up at Broken Hill on a large station, born 42 years ago, his family was farming or calf rustling since his great Great Grandfather. Graham had a choice of teaching or bank managering with Suncorp, and chose the later. Graham moved to the Coast 12 years ago and has been in financial planning ever since.

Setting Goals

Edwin De Bruyns of Coast Tech TV Repairs was chair of the meeting, and asked each of the club members to state some action each got out of the session with Mike O'Hagan. Many of the members shared a goal. Why did Lee Priem of The Bank of Queensland Currimundi say his goal was to lend more money? To make more money.
The meeting this thursday will be a joint presentation with Rod Hurst from the Unfair Advantage and Hugh Butler from The Wizard Trader. Will will do a short workshop on Goal Setting. In a Harvard University study, researchers surveyed the graduating class of the business school, and resurveyed them 20 years later. The 3% of the graduating class who had set individual goals, 20 years later had more wealth between them, than the combined 97% who had not set goals.
When asked for a show of hands in the club, some 20% said they had goals, but the balance had not. This meeting is an opportunity for 100% to set some simple goals.
Do not miss this breakfast. The $22 you spend on breakfast will be the best value you invest this year.

My notes were as follows (and others caught different points).

Many self employed people work in a job, for as many hours as their own staff for less money!
Mike wanted to be rick and not work
Don't aim too low. Get a "BHAG", a big hairy audacious goal.
Mike has never worked in moving. He can't drive a truck.
Get rid of cash negative businesses. Only deal in cash positive businesses. It took him 6 years to find one.

As he talk moved into Businesses without Boundaries he mentioned:

Internet is global, but still local
Duplicate it.
Use www.alibaba.com, www.odesk.com, www.freelancer.com to name but a few to get into the borderless world.

Chrissy Withers from Lime Social Media, originally came from the UK. She says " my business life started out with a purely internet based retail store selling low carb and sugar free products imported from America so it was important for me to get found online and know how to talk to people on the internet. I had a 4 year spell in embroidery when I first arrived in Oz to fulfil my Business Visa requirements and then went back to doing what I love, working on the internet.
I started doing social media for two business colleagues in the UK and America and can help businesses with social media from creating a customized Facebook Business Page right through to formulating and managing a targeted social media campaign to fit their particular business objectives".
Chrissy gave a few good reasons to run like hell away from Social Media; but she finished up by giving them a Social Media Acid Test to complete to see if their business should be using Social Media. Did you pass?

Oliver McCully

Oliver McCully from Hidden Equity provided the five minute talk. Oliver says he loves tennis and golf. As someone who attended Queens University Belfast, living in Caloundra has to be somewhat of a change.

Mike O'Hagan. This Week

Arrive 6:45am to the meeting. Bring cards, humour and an appetite.
Mike quotes" I regularly mentor prestart-ups. Inevitably they roll in with a business idea that has negative cash flow (most expenses need to be paid before the customer pays). When I point this out and explain that combining this with strong growth will lead to substantial cash flow short falls – they comment that “I’m lucky” in MiniMovers, as my cash flow is positive. Customers pay (electronically) upon completion; we have the cash in the bank before we pay our people (our biggest expense) later that week. Luck” is a funny beast – I rejected many business ideas before finding my MiniMovers with its positive cash flow."
If you want luck, then come along to hear how luck might be more an outcome of good planning than serendipity.

Numbers Present 29
Mark Stephens from BliBli Stationery and his wife Sue purchased Bli Bli News 4 years ago. Not only have they had to contend with the GFC, but changes in customer purchasing. Online purchasing is eroding margins, with Lotto online, newspapers bought by ipad subscription, and businesses more comfortable to seek out better deals online for office supplies. Bli Bli News uses an online warehouse, that is 10 times the size of OfficeWorks, so they can supply anything (apart from office furniture and larger printers). For everything else, Mark has challenged club members to fax through a quote for the 5 items each club member buys. See if he can match or best your current purchases.
Mark's full time job is fleet manager at BlueCare, with over 1600 vehicles – the largest outside government. Mark stressed that "duty of care" required more than just getting a staff person the keys to the car and allow them to drive. Businesses need to train, support and implement a culture of safe driving. BlueCare is in the race to win this years Australian business of the year award. Mark will provide club members with some of the material they have developed; which has dropped their accident rate from 35% fault down to less than 13% at fault accidents. Given that 60% of vehicles on the road are fleet vehicles, improvements in this will make road accidents plummet.

Kellie Angelique

Kellie, from Onyx Media Messages on Hold moved from NSW as a young girl, but grew up in a musical family. The 3 sisters, in an group called Aquarius sang often. Kellie got her first gig on the Radio in Tasmania, and has been a regular on local MixFM but is giving up this to focus on her business, for messages on hold, telephone answering messages

Next Meeting

Chrissy Withers from Lime Social Media (0400 220 676) has been working with USA customers to improve and to educate businesses how to use social media such as Facebook to enhance their online presence and make optimise use of this technology. Come along and hear how it is done, and how she has helped companies, big and small.
Oliver McCully will share how a foreign sounding migrant wound up at Caloundra, and Stefan Boni might be back chairing. He gets practice now as President of the Caboulture Chamber of Commerce.

Referrals Focus

The numbers of referrals appears to have dropped off. There is still lots of internal work, so it is worthwhile for many members, but external referrals seems down. Come along next week to hear the winners are grinners for September.

We have 42 members, and looking to grow to 50 members but it is hard to get someone who does not conflict with existing members. Regrettably, Mark Lancaster from AtoZ Finance and Brian Fincham who would like to join in the mortgage finance and in the investment area will have go onto the Club waiting list. Vacancies? Pitched at $199 price, with full access to books and media from Amazon; and pretty much everything that the iPad or the other tablets do. How will this be useful in your business? Good question.
What is of value is Tony Jannides from AccountsPro? Tony is an expert in MYOB, Quickbooks, and Xero, and if your accounts are not up to date, then you are very likely to be owed money by the ATO and others. Get your accounts in shape before Christmas. Call Tony on 0419 768 104.

In his spare time Josh is a very proficient amateur photographer.

Gez focuses on personal and individualised fitness training at Technology Drive, Warana, and given that recent figures showed that 61% of Australians are overweight or obese. Lee Priem from Bank of Queensland is proud of his Number 1 in Australia for home loans. Leon Morse, after 41 years in the tyre business for winning out of 49 dealers in Qld, and 4th out of 150 Dunlop Super Dealers in Australia. Paul Brennan from Brennan Law for finishing a marathon in Macau. Stefan Boni from Elite for being elected President of the Caboulture Chamber of Commerce for 2012. Tony Wurth from Wurth IT for selling his business and taking 2 years walkabout. Zane Wood for asking his wife to marry him, and she saying yes. Promoting Your Business

The BRC website can be very powerful in getting your website or information to the top of the search engin results for when customer go looking. The site is well ranked, and if you modify your own section to include terms that you think people search for when looking. So check out your business and we can help get your business to a better ranking.
However, referrals result in 70% success. If you get or make a referral, you will get the business in 70% of the cases. So if you know of someone who likes business, refer them on to one of the club members. Guests are free for the first breakfast.

Cathy Robinson from Suncity Travel has horror stories about intrepid travellors who go overseas without the services of helpful travel agents and wind up in all sorts of predicaments. Cathy has been in the travel industry for an undisclosed period of time, given she started right after school.
The five minute speaker is Joshua Gurnick from Kooshka Hair. Joshua was up in Cairns prepping for a wedding this coming weekend, so look on his facebook for those after wedding party photos. Josh is a keen photography as well. Chair will be Rod Hurst

For home base businesses, you can tell it not to put your home street address on. Costs nothing. Gives you business when people search for local businesses. Hugh Butler from the Wizard Trader presented a short summary of the new business. The website will be going live shortly, and after 15 months of development will offer professionals who are not full time traders the first of a number of share trading software products for technical trading. The product is called BlastCharts. Click on this to check it out.

Josh Blain – Who am I?

Josh Blain from Commander Center on 0434 749 960 specialises in phone systems and phones for businesses on the Sunshine Coast. Not everyone has a mum who was the OMO lady from the 1970's and had ten years of free OMO. Do we call Josh "suds" to remind him of his school yard teasers? Or call him Prem, for being the youngest prem baby in NSW during the 70's? Nope – I think we should call him a true blue as a Sunnie Coaster for moving here after 10 years with Optus Business in Sydney. With a love of footy (still playing), swimming and bringing his kids up in a location that many would give their eye teeth for.
Prior to his talk, Josh admitted he only got about 3 hours sleep last night, worrying about the talk. He need not have worried. We learnt much about Josh, and I am sure that most now have a much better understanding of one of our Club Members.

Overcoming the Nerves

Public speaking is a common source of stress for everyone. Some club members are stress about it. Here are 8 tips. Many of us would like to avoid this problem entirely, but this is hard to do

Talk Twice As Slow.
Speak Twice As Loud.
Ennunciate
Use Short Sentences.
Pause Often.
Organize Your Talk Around 3 to 5 Bullet Points
Save The Best For Last.

If you have the nerves, don't fret. I find this helpful. Identify one of your the people you know well in the club. Focus on them, talk to them as naturally as you would chatting to them during the coffee break. You are amongst friends.

Next Meeting

Anna Searle from Inspire Leadership has offered to talk this coming week, as we have some gaps opening up in the schedule. Speaking for 10 or 5 minutes is an opportunity to establish formal understanding with the other members of the BRC – and enables them to promote the speakers to their business colleagues and help provide referrals. Referrals result in new business 70% of the time. Advertising is somewhere between 0.1% and 3%. Take advance of the group. See the hints on speaking sidebar.

BRC Website Update

The website is fully operational. Steve Ledger from Commworks Media who is the Sunshine Coast premier website design specialist focusing on WordPress Website for the travel industy has repeatedly said make sure you update your website with blog posts and new information. If you want your website to be at the top so the new generation of consumers can find you, make sure you update your own website, but use our website to update your content and provide lots of links back to yours. All club members will get an email with their login details and some instructions on how to update the club site. Do this once a month. One sentence or two focusing on your business. Put a facebook link in if you have one. Make sure the text has your name, your business name and what you so that people searching for you get the right words. Talk to Chrissy Withers or Steve Ledger.

Neil Dickinson from NCAB rose to the challenge of why Car Salesmen are more trusted than politicians. Neil has been 12 years in his business and prior to that was in a fleet / retail car sales business. Neil was born in NZ, and started his trade as a confectionarist. Fudged the figures; but makes a mean liquorice allsorts. He left NZ at 19 and worked in the Goldern Circle Cannery but decided working in doors with no windows was not for him. Truck wrecking aside, Neil provides a great service for anyone who wants to buy a car, and needs professional help (maybe not quite in that sense). Example. Customer wanted a particular colour car and there was one south of Sydney. On a fixed fee basis, Neil flew down, confirmed the car was to specification, did all the paperwork, drove it back to the customer at Buderim for less than the cost of interstate freight. Referals For the Month

The numbers for the referrals for the month of August are in, and will be announced this coming week.
This newsletter and the website redevelopment by Steve Ledger of Commworks Media (ph 07 5445 8229) web development for the Sunshine Coast provides a lot of feeds and links for the members of the Business Club. If you search for your name on Google, chances are that your name will come up in the top 1/2 page of search engine listings. This is because I write your business and name and if I can something about your business to promote your website and your business. The 1 hour of website text and data that the BRC paid for on the club website has put lots of club members rankings up. Steve with the design of the Business Referrals Club website deliberately put in a blog and made some changes to make this process easier. These minutes I do go onto Mailchimp.com, but then are pulled back to the website to further increase the content. Even talks from Bob Ansett show up in the first couple of pages on the BRC website. The BRC website is a highly ranked site, and getting your name onto will bring web referrals to you. (Have a search for Tony Jannides, or Kellie Angelique, or Wayne Knettter or yourself).
If you want your business to get advertising worth probably a thousand dollars for: call me to book your business of the week in the 12 weeks left. Update your bit of news on your own page. As part of this, the editorial policy will change, and I won't be putting up apologies in this newsletter but instead will highlight a couple of businesses from those who attended and contributed to the meeting. That way members who attend get more value.

Getting Online

The General Manager of MYOB was in the news last week saying that businesses that put their business online had on average 8% higher profits than those that did not. Businesses who do not have a website and maintain and post comment to it are simply giving up profit which you get just by turning up.. If you do not have a website or online presence, it is time to get one. Speak to Steve for a good proper one. You can get cheap ones that give you that a presence but it may be hard to be noticed. If you use Google Mail as a business user ($50 per user per year) then this probably the cheapest as you can do your own, but you will need some help from someone like Tony Wurth (07 5476 8131) who focuses on local business IT solutions.

Eddie Peell from Emergency Fridge on Today on 0417 056 433 who fixes fridges, aircons and things gave a good reminder what a bit of personal service will do. He helped an older lady by assisting her to fill out some household insurance forms for her damaged fridge. She repaid the kindness by taking 20 of his business cards and giving them to all the other retirees in the district.
Grant Keating from Keating and Associates 07 5448 9600 got an invite – 30 years as an accountant. Keating and Associates provides tax and financial accounting advice across the sunshine Coast.
Peter Thompson from Insurer AdvisorNet on 07 5443 1866 pointed out that in the first six months of 2000; total disaster paid out was $200billion; and in 2011, it was $3,200 billion. Do you wonder why your insurance costs will rise by 30% this year.

Rob Sharkey, together with other club members, finds it a real challenge to get up in front of the group and speak. It becomes easier with practice; even when one has little to say about your business. "I am Rob and I print things". Other club members don't buy this and refer Rob and Prints Happening because he does a standout job, promptly, with no fuss. If you hear anyone who needs printing done this week, refer Rob.

Paul Alister – Who am I

Paul recounted some of his life story that is a book and will be a movie. (Due 2012). Paul has a twin Mark. They had a traumatic upbringing in WA and Paul turned first to sports (representing WA in junior surfing), to drugs and by late teenage years to yoga and meditation. He spent 7 years in gaol, but eventually received a full pardon for wrongful conviction. You can read his life story on the web at the Sunshine Coast Daily Paul has had his Multimedia business during the past 15 years at Maleny.

Thanks to Jeremy Hunter from Superior Garages we have some insider info as members disclosed something about themselves. Arthur Treweek represented Australia in underwater hockey. Bryan Bruce has an Irish Setter; Eddie Peell worked as a croupier in the Cairns Casino, Jeremy Hunter play A grade above the water hockey, Lance Milne used to call horse races; Mark Campbell rides speedway bikes, Mark Stephens rode in motorbike sidecar races, Tony Wurth in Motocross Bikes, Zane Wood in Enduro. . Paul Alister represented AFL in Qld.

The Business Referrals Club is about referrals. We have a consistent message and theme, and the networking is to ensure we know about each other's businesses and feel comfortable to either use their services ourselves, or refer external clients.

13th October Mike O'Hagan. Mike is a “been there, doing it” kind of guy. With $200 and a Ute, Mike grew a short distance furniture moving business into a professionally managed enterprise that today turns over $23 million a year with over 320 employees, known as MiniMovers. He is a great speaker and really encouraging for those in small business.

Condolences

We offer our condolesences to Maxine Field from Buds on Buderim, whose mother passed away recently in NZ. Maxine had gone to NZ to visit for a couple of week, but has stayed on longer. We look forward to seeing you back shortly.

This Saturday, Gez from PlayFit has a fundraising breakfast / morning tea at PlayFit, $10 and all proceeds going to Camp Quality. Gez played for ACT Rugby, so big night on Saturday.

Backup Anyone?

Thousands of businesses in Christchurch with earthquakes or in Brisbane with the floods found to their horror that their backup systems were inadequate. I have some acquaintances (lawers / accountants) who could not get to their offices for 4 months due to building collapse risk. It is really easy and cheap these days to buy yourself an internet connection and a large chunk of online storage (Amazon, Microsoft LiveDrive, Google) and store a copy of all your critical business systems offsite and online. $200 per year or less for most small businesses (under 10 staff). It is easier and quicker than you think. Make it part of your best practice, along with checking that your insurance really does cover you. Gez McFadden and Noni Croft from PlayFitness presented their business. Gez took over the business when the owner went back to New Zealand 5 years ago; and Noni has been there right from the start. They offer a boutique service: no lock in contracts, no hidden fees; just old fashioned personal service. They provided some testimonials of customers who lost 20 kg in a year, and regained 10 years of life expectancy. Hourly stretches – from top to toes.
Leanne Petherbridge from Coastal Business Brokers went along on Monday and is only just prepared to cough 3 days later. No gain without some pain. Some noticed that Paul Brennan from Brennan Law only managed to touch his knees.

Tony Jannides

Tony Jannides from AccountsPro started his professional career as a photographic technician and came to Australia from NZ in 1976 (three years before Fred Dagg, aka John Clark from Clark & Dawes.) He married, had 6 children, a career with Main Rd, a divorce, and went into bookkeeping six years ago. His partner, Yvonne, is a principal with a Montessori school.

She has a network marketing business with Neways and has won a number of achievement awards, provides speaking and motivational speaking and writes a blog on www.ecohealthguru.com

Referrals Process

The Clubs formal is “the Sunshine Coast BRC Inc” but we are known as The Business Referrals Club and our motto is read out every week – “We meet in a spirit of co-operation so that we can develop the knowledge and trust to promote each others businesses”. The Club grew out of a number of members who were in BNI and disliked the formal structure but wanted a club that promoted referrals. For some the BRC is not formal enough, and they prefer a BNI style, others opt for the more casual style of BRC or the club at Masellis, or various other clubs on the Coast.
The committee is implementing recommendations from the marketing survey and plan from mid 2010 (Wayne Knetter, Paul Brennan, Hugh Butler subcommittee recommendations) adopted by the committee of Grant Keating, Lee Priem, Graham Mcintyre and Kellie Angelique.

Promotional Activities to Support Referrals

We promote the 10 minute speaker as the Business of the Week, and promote the use of the blue card to refer.
We record referrals and provide a monthly update on prizes to those with the most external referrals and present that to the meeting
We separated out the referrals from the “elevator” speech to emphasis referrals
Increased membership by $50 per year to allow production of the A4 brochure with members, and we have drop boxed that to all businesses in the 4556 area code
Provide a small card with business names
Updated the website to provide the personalised referral approach (thanks Steve Ledger from Commworks). This helps your own business website search ranking
Paid for a copywriter to provide 1 hour to every member to get their name into Google and search engines

Results from Referrals

On average the Club total is 100 plus referrals per month. Referral value ranges from $50 to $40,000 per year.
It is pretty clear that what one gives by way of referrals will come back.

Tony Wurth from Wurth IT

Tony Wurth as business of the week gave an overview of how you can replace $5000 of Microsoft Small Business Server and replace it with $50 per user per year for Google Business Apps. Or $300 per year with Microsoft 365. Microsoft and Google are looking to cement their dominance in this market segment, and providing you have good internet access, outsourcing your in-house system for an external provider makes pretty compelling financial sense. Call Tony on 0407 038 168 for ideas on how to integrate desktop, network and phone systems to a "unified communication environment". You will still need some IT support, as both of these "cloud providers" expect systems integrators to help small businesses.
Tony also stressed the importance of good passwords to prevent identity theft. Do NOT use birthdays, abc123, password or similar for your password. Make it more than 8 characters, make it two words with a number and punctuation. The hackers use dictionaries that provide thousands of commonly used passwords – and he has seen on various local business site password attacks where over 12,000 different combinations were used to try to attempt to gain entry just overnight. If you do not act promptly, your business could be next in line, and breaches of security is the last thing needed in these challenging times.

Public Liability

Peter Thompson from Insurance Advisernet on 0409 29 127 spoke for 5 minutes about public liability. Previously Peter would deal with 1 or 2 claims in 6 months – now it is 2 every week. The rule is: if an injury or mishap could be due to negligence then a small business is liable. Even if you are not liable, you will have to pay the legal bills, and they can be huge. Make sure you have PL insurance. If you have a home business and someone comes to your door on business, then your home insurance (with its inbuilt PL) wont cover you.

Next Meeting

Come along to our next meeting on 11th August to hear Gez McFadden talk on how to survive in the cut throat business of fitness. Burgeoning business; high churn rates, failed resolutions. How do you keep up with the industry? Lessons for us all. Gez has represented the ACT in rugby union and has placed 2nd at the Australian Natural Bodybuilding Titles over 2 years as well as representing Australia in the 2003 Natural Olympia in Auckland New Zealand (check out this link for a photo of Gez). He understands the discipline and drive required to achieve goals which can be related to the very busy lifestyles of everyday people.
Gez’s qualifications include Bachelor of Applied Science in Nutrition and Sports, Diploma of Applied Science in Biology, Certificate lll & IV in Fitness, Senior First Aid and CPR.
Tony Jannides from Accounts Pro will provide some social commentary on how one might change allegiance from the All Blecks to the Wallabies. Paul Allister will video the meeting.

Referrals Focus

External referrals were down to 5 last week, up from 4 the previous week. Against that were 26 internal referrals.

Coming Up

14 apologies. The Dept of Health reports that as at 22 July 2011, there have been 10,060 confirmed cases of influenza reported to the National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System (NNDSS) in 2011, compared with 1,571 for the same period in 2010. It should be noted that over the 2011 summer months, all jurisdictions reported higher than usual numbers of notifications and this season commenced very early. It is not too late to get a flu vaccine (if you are so inclined.) Two provided the flu excuse (Arthur Treweek from Treweek Builders, Greg Wilcomes from G& K Painters, The Department of Excuses also had a large number due to travel to Brisbane. (Tony Jannides from Accounts Pro, Paul Brennan from BrennanLaw; Mark Stephens from BliBli Stationery, Cathy Robinson from Ucango Travel.). Josh Blain from the Commander Centre apologised that he went to get tyres from Leon Morse from Dunlop SuperDealers, but got new brakes instead. Beware calling into 41 Wises Rd – it can be injurous to your wallet.

Rod Hurst from the Unfair Advantage provided a great session on July 28th. Eddie Peell Fridge on Today

Business of the Week Eddie has been fixing refrigeration and air conditioning systems for 30 years. Fix it today – not tomorrow is his slogan. He prides himself of service. For example if he is called out, and the fridge needs replacing he will provide a service report which can be used to buy an new fridge on insurance. He may not see the customer for another 10 years, but they will tell their neighbour about the service. Call him on 0417 056 433.

Is the Club Worthwhile?

Do a google search on your business! Getting your business to the top of the search pile in web search is worth referrals. You might pay $2,000 a year for Yellow Pages. The Club membership costs $150. The update of the website by Steve Ledger from Commworks, and the $40 per member for copywriting by Lorin De Cent, and these newsletters and web update has made most businesss appear in the top page of searchs. Just look for Tony Jannides, and you will see it right at the top. Or Grant Keating and you will find the Business Referrals Club mention at the top. Making it easy to find your business will give you business, and this sort of search ranking money can buy – but lots of it!. This is part of why Club membership is worth every dollar. Invite a friend / colleague. Help their business too.

High Net Worth Individuals

The term HNWI is for people that have more than $1m US in assets other than their family home.
Most are business people. Australia is number 10 (with 180,000) in the world behind Italy, Switzerland, Canada, France, UK (380,000), China (500m), Germany (900,000) Japan (1.6m) and USA with 2.8m. If you want to ensure that you are part of the 180,000 in Australia, make sure you come along to Rod Hursts presentation next week to get some tips and techniques to improve your profits. If you have profits you will need a good accountant to minimise it, so Grant Keating from keating and Associates might be good place to start to minimise tax; or if you want to manage it call Graham McIntyre from Compass Financial Solutions.

Bob Kain – BK Designer

The business to refer this week: Bob has been designing buildings in 3D for a number of years. Whether it be a French castle out Woodford way, or a refurbishment of a plain asbestos sheeting cottage, Bob can make it come alive. You need to know your budget. As Bob pointed out, many of the project homes need so many extras to even pass Council approval, so Bob specialises in working for people who want a little more for their money than a project home. GMail / Microsoft 365

There are lots of email solutions in business. Many have their own mail server as part of their company website; although some smaller businesses still rely on free email accounts such as Microsoft's Hotmail / Live / Goggles Gmail or Yahoo mail. Both Google and Microsoft provide "Business Email" on their "cloud infrastructure". For the cost of about $50 per year per user, millions of companies now outsource their business email, calendars, all company data and accounting systems. The business systems include generous data storage, backup, anit-spam, access from anything (desktop computer, laptop, phone, smartphone, Apple, Android or Windows) and from anywhere in the world. Bring a Guest

Rod Hurst from The Unfair Advantage will be talking to the group in 2 weeks time for a 30 minute slot. We won't have the normal presentations that day to allow Rod to talk about how to make more money. Rod bought and grew a successful newsagency business, doubling the value. In his coaching career, he and Kerie helped busineses to double or treble their income. He provides consulting and coaching services on the coast.
This would be a great opportunity to bring a guest. We had 30 members at our breakfast this morning – if each club member brings 1 guest, we will have over 60 attending this. Rod is a great speaker, so if you know a business that needs a helping hand – bring along the owner.

13/10/11 – Mike O'Hagan

Put this in your diary. Mike O’Hagan is a “been there, doing it” kind of guy. With $200 and a Ute, Mike grew a short distance furniture moving business into a professionally managed enterprise that today turns over $23 million a year with over 320 employees, known as MiniMovers.

Tax Bites

Grant Keating from Keating and Associates; and Tony Jannides from AccountsPro provided an update on 2 tax initiatives. There is a Queensland housing grant of $8,000 available for new home buyers. Website Copywriting

Unfortunately, Lorin De Cent was not at the meeting to meet and greet. He is making progress through the club membership with about 25 of the articles written, and 12 to go. If you have not spoken with Lorin, he will be in touch shortly.

Newsletter 24, 7th July. Business of the Week: Cheryl Robert from Home Instead. Sobering information from Cheryl We are all getting older, and some of us will need care. Especially lawyers. Refer Cheryl to someone you care about this week.

Cheryl Robert – Home Instead Care

The business to refer this week: Cheryl gave a great presentation of the demands that care for the elderly is going to get more demanding. We are getting older. The Baby Boomers parents are often still alive, and needing that something extra. 75% of teh elderly are looked after by family. Home Instead Care and assist. Sometimes with government assistance, sometimes independently. Call Cheryl on 0417 601 994.

Bob Kain from BK Designer Drafting has a great website, and does great 3d presentations from his CAD drafting so you see exactly what you will get. Come along next week. Bring a guest if you know someone who is considering building.

New Member Zane from Plumbing Maintenance

Zane Wood has rejoined the club at a plumber. He is still selling real estate, but is back on the tools. Once a tradie, always a tradie, and he, Arthur Treweek, and Greg Wilcomes are discussing the finer points of trademanship.

The New Easy Listening Gig

Kellie Angelique from Onyx Messages on Hold, and Tony Wurth from Wurth IT have been practicing for six months. It shows. Great performance, you guys are ready for the big time. As Tony says, doing it in your bed room is not the same as doing it in front of an audience – even a very appreciating audience. Joshua slideshow using his iPad with hair styles and fashion suited to the Sydney or Milan catwalks demonstrated clearly the talent of Joshua. Josh was going to be a commerce student but fell in love with the hair dressing world. Not even 12 months of sweeping hair off the floor could disillusion him. Condolences

The Club sent their condolences to the family of Barbara Hartford from Manor Blinds with flowers and some members attended her funeral on Thursday. Barbara was one of the founding members of the BRC.
